Dunn's River Falls - A Taste of Ecstasy

    Sunday, April 27, 2008, 02:21 AM [General]

Dunn's River Falls is a famous waterfall right outside the town of Ocho Rios Jamaica.  A very famous Caribbean tourist attraction.  Eight rivers flows into one and then empties into the Caribbean Sea.  It is one of the very few rivers in the world that actually fall directly into the sea.

The waterfall flows through lush vegetation and has the height of over 600 feet, several small lagoons exist interspersed between the vertical sections of the falls. Climbing up the waterfalls is a popular tourist activity and is often, lead by tour guides from the park.  The falls can be easily walked up and is often a jovial past-time for the climbers as they wade in deeper sections or stand under the cascading waters.  Hold on tight to those skimpy bathing suits otherwise you will pick them up later on the beach!

Parts of the James Bond movie Dr. No were filmed at the Falls, including a scene of Ursula Andress walking onto the beach among several others.

As another chain of fall climbers descend, they are past by several heading up each group touting their prowness.   Yeah, Yeah, kids climb up too - - it is not difficult.  I tried several times and made it to the top twice.  Maybe I would have done a record breaker if I wasn't distracted .....................
